JCUS Entry Requirements

English Language Entry Requirements

Students whose native language is not English must generally demonstrate their proficiency be achieving a score in a test such as IELTS or TOEFL (see table below)

IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5)
TOEFL (paper based) 550 (with a minimum Test if Written English Score of 4.0)
TOEFL (computer based) 213 (with an essay rating of at least 4.0)
Completion of JCU English Language Preparatory Program
This table is designed to show the minimum English language proficiency for JCU. Some programs (e.g. PostGraduate Diploma in Education) requires IELTS 7.0 or equivalent. Please consult the degree rules on the exact requirements.

In some cases students who have successfully completed two years of full time study in which the language of instruction was English may satisfy the English requirement. To be considered, the study must have been undertaken no more than two years prior to the date of offer for a place at JCU. Students must provide a certificate or statement issued by the Registrar’s office of that institution confirming this.

Students who wish to nominate the IELTS or TOEFL scores as proof of English proficiency should secure their test scores before the lodgment of their application. Due to the CaseTrust and Immigration procedures, it is not possible for JCU Singapore to make an offer while pending test results. Students are encouraged to secure their test scores early to avoid delay or disappointment.
