The Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts
offers internationally recognized degrees that challenge
students, exposing them to contemporary issues,
the latest research and new ideas. Each degree focuses
on learning outcomes that have professional relevance
and practical application.

The
School of Business is one of the largest schools
within JCU and offers a range of innovative and
highly respected undergraduate and postgraduate
courses. Areas of undergraduate study include: Accounting,
e-Business, Economics, Finance, Hospitality Management,
Human Resource Management, Information Systems,
International Business, Management, Marketing and
Tourism.
Popular School of Business postgraduate coursework
options include the Master of Business Administration
(MBA), Master of Economics and Master of Tourism
as well as the joint Master of Business Administration/Master
of Information Technology (MBA/MIT) and the Master
of Public Health/Master of Business Administration
(MPH/MBA).
The
School of Law at James Cook University provides
students with a solid foundation in traditional
law subjects, along with
an exciting and broad ranging elective program.
The School
is proud of its community links and is strongly
supported by
the legal profession. The School of Law offers a
four-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a three year Graduate
Bachelor of Laws for existing degree holders, together
with an excellent selection of joint degree options.
Specialist
degrees offered by the College of Music, Visual
Arts and Theatre (COMVAT) provide students with
the opportunity to realize their creative potential
as individuals, with undergraduate programs in Music,
Creative Arts, Communication Design, Photography,
Visual Arts and Theatre. The recently introduced
Graduate Diploma of Creative Arts is an innovative
postgraduate coursework program designed for graduates
from a range of backgrounds who wish to pursue studies
in the creative arts. Students can tailor a program
to reflect their interests and goals.
For those students wishing to pursue a program
of research, Masters and Doctoral degrees by thesis
are supervised by highly qualified faculty staff. The
Faculty has and enjoys strong links with industry
and has cooperative research partnerships with a
number of other institutions and industry bodies.
The School of Business has international standing
in research in tourism, offering opportunities to
study ecotourism and sustainable tourism. The School
of Law has recognized research strengths in criminal
law, international law, medical law and ethics,
taxation and commercial law, and human rights law.
The College of Music, Visual Arts and Theatre is
unrivaled as a provider of postgraduate creative
arts practice-based research degrees in Australia.
A Native Title Studies Centre has been established
in the Faculty with a research focus based on the
interaction between Indigenous peoples and others
over land use and resources while also providing
training in native title matters and dispute resolution. |
