JCU Faculties
Faculty of Science, Engineering
& Information Technology
JCU’s
situation is unique – both the Cairns and Townsville
campuses are close to the Great Barrier Reef, rainforests,
wetlands and savannas allowing the Faculty’s degrees
and research areas to make extensive use of the
geography and industries of northern Queensland.
The location has enabled the Faculty to produce
world-famous Schools and groups with international
expertise in:
|
- Cyclone Structural Testing Station
- Australian Centre for Tropical Freshwater Research
- Centre for Disaster Studies
- Economic Geology Research Unit
- Centre of Astronomy
The
Faculty’s research performance is outstanding among
Australian universities. Consequently, our graduates
are in demand around the globe. We offer access
to well-equipped, modern laboratories, and the University
operates a research vessel, field stations on a
Great Barrier Reef island and in the rainforest,
sophisticated acquaria and analytical and testing
equipment. We are a member of several Cooperative
Research Centres and have strong links with other
research organizations and industry.
Our relatively small classes, highly qualified
staff and strong support network combined with the
relatively low cost of living in Townsville and
Cairns make JCU a great choice for studying science,
engineering and information technology. |
