As part of the university policy of reviewing all academic programs on a year three cycle, James Cook University is now offering new accounting programs at its Singapore campus.
“We are very excited about being able to offer an accounting major as part of the Bachelor of Business and the new Master of Professional Accounting. Both are accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) and CPA Australia”, said Mr. Det Fischer, Director of International and Marketing, JCU Singapore.
Why are these programs special? The curriculum is designed to give students access to different networks, business knowledge and at the same time to build their personal competence. Also these programs allow student to apply for associate membership of CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
Accounting plays a vital role in business and is critical to efficient economic function around the world. With highly qualified faculty members, students will be in introduced to a wider world view of accounting, such as auditing or tax.
In terms of career prospects, accounting graduates are in demand around the world. They have a wide range of employment opportunities available in the public and private sector. Such opportunities include as a public accountant, a financial and management accountant, a systems accountant, a financial officer, a management consultant or financial policy advisor.
