Dr. Dale Anderson

Initially trained in primary education, Dr Dale Anderson worked as a teacher and Guidance Officer prior to accepting a number of senior roles within Education Queensland predominantly in quality assurance and educational leadership.
In 2000, Dr Anderson became the Institute Director at the Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE. While in this role, he led and championed significant strategic and operational reforms which resulted in the doubling of the number of training hours being provided and a 400% increase in commercial activity.
Dr Anderson has outstanding experience in multicultural affairs and international relations. He was responsible for the development and implementation of the Cape York Employment and Training Strategy which was nominated in the 2004 Queensland Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Public Service. Additionally, Dr Anderson prepared the Palm Island Economic Development Plan, managed the Queensland South Sea Islander Employment Strategy and was instrumental in the establishment of the Cape York Institute for Policy and Leadership, one of Australia’s leading think tanks on Indigenous issues. At the same time, he developed close working relationships in Vietnam and other South East Asian countries.
For the past 10 years, Dr Anderson has led the growth of the Singapore Campus of James Cook University. James Cook University Singapore is now recognised as a market leader in the provision of tertiary studies in Singapore, business excellence, and educational quality. This is evidenced by James Cook University Singapore’s receipt of EduTrust Star accreditation and attainment of Singapore Quality Star. James Cook University Singapore was the first foreign educational institution to receive Singapore Quality Class and currently is the only educational institution in Singapore with Singapore Quality Class Star. James Cook University Singapore is also one of only a very few organisations to have been awarded the AustCham Business excellence award and the only foreign educational institution in Singapore authorized to call itself a university.
In 2010, Dr Anderson was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor, James Cook University Australia and Head of the Singapore Campus. As Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr Anderson is a member of the James Cook University Executive and the Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Committee.
Dr Anderson’s expertise in the field of education and business development in Queensland and South East Asia is well recognised and, as a leader, educator and innovator, he has participated in trade missions and projects in a number of countries in the region as well as China and the United Kingdom.
In 2007, Dr Anderson was awarded a Fellowship of the Australian College of Educators. He is currently a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the First Vice President of the Singapore Association of Private Education, a member of the Education Committee and the ASEAN Committee of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Singapore Management Committee of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Board of Advisors of Australian Alumni Singapore.
