Here's a quick summary of our latest happenings.

The landmark State of the Tropics report was released simultaneously in Rangoon, Singapore and Australia on the 29 June 2014. The report is an initiative of 12 research institutions from across the world and provides the first in-depth, impartial assessment of the Tropics as an environmental and geopolitical entity in its own right.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Laureate and Chair National League for Democracy Burma launched the report in Myanmar followed by live panel discussions in Singapore via satellite link.

No Money for Chips - Special Talk


Ms. Gail Mabo, North Queensland artist, Choreographer, Speaker. Gail’s presentation provided a personal perspective on her father Eddie Koiki Mabo, respected Torres Strait Island elder and land rights activist and his influence on her life.

Graduation Ceremony 19 July 2014


Held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre for the first time, some 160 graduates were joined by their families and friends at the joyous occasion. Graduates join a class of the James Cook University alumni and we wish them well in their future endeavours.
