Each of us have many unforgettable memories in our life. That were something called "imprint". If I have not joined JCU for my last several years, I may not know how captivating it is. If I have not been a part of you, I may not know I can have a place like a nest in a foreign country. I am a graduate of James Cook University. When I am writing this essay, today is the 366th days from I was officially graduated from JCUs. I joined JCUs from ELPP language class, and after that I took the foundation program. After my foundation program, I have officially been a university student. So, I have grown with JCUs for many years, that makes me more qualified to describe it. I am from Shanghai, and just like many other foreign students, I come to Singapore for study by myself. As a foreign student, I do not have parents with me, no relatives, and no friends. The day we come here, was a new start of our life. If I have not been a part of you(JCUs), I may not meet so many friends from different countries and different backgrounds. We brought specialties and stories from our own countries and shared them with each other in the Student Lounge. We have formed "internatinal teams" to do our assignments and presentations, and we have disscussions and arguments in the Student Lounge. We have experienced infernal days before exams in the Student Lounge. I have cried in the student lounge when I made phone calls with my parents. I have celebrated birthdays with school mates in the Student Lounge. I have fallen into sleep in the Student Lounge... The Student Lounge records so many pleasure, anger, sorrow, joy of each of students here. If I have not been a part of you(JCUs), I may not have a story with the Student Lounge. Do you remember the taste of sandwiches from our school canteen? To most of us, a sandwich with a cup of Kopi light up our our day. The school canteen was the start of the day to me in my university life. I still remember the taste of my favorite egg mayonnaise sandwich. I still remember everyday I said ' auntie, ice Kopi, less sugar'. In the lunch time, lecturers and students queue for the vegetable rice. Although the meals we have here were not as delicious as the meals in our hometown, I still can not forget this taste. The fried tomato with egg is my favorite since it is a signature dish from my hometown. I like to talk about life and stories with school mates while having food in canteen. It was a relax place to me. If I have not been a part of you(JCUs), I may not have a story with the school canteen. The school library is the place that I spent most of my time in. Library is a quiet place but let me feel full of pressure. However, pressure is motivation. Each student keeps nose in the books. From their face, I can see their dreams, their future, and their parents' expectations. I become one of them, enjoy the knowledge there. I have fallen asleep in the library. I have exhausted before exams in the library. If I have not been a part of you(JCUs), I may not have a story with the library. I have walked from one classroom to another. Each of them records lecturers'/tutors' toils and sweat, and students' progress and blood. Sometimes, we stayed in these rooms from 9 am to 9 pm for our classes. I still remember the unique smell of air freshens in JCU's classrooms. I still remember different signature moves of my lovely teachers. If a have not been a part of you(JCUs), I may not have a story with the classrooms here. The open space in the front of the school building let me think of the fire-drill which happened every semester. We all love it since it brought us a short break during classes. The fire-drill brought all students together in the open space. We can meet friends that we had known from last several semesters, and have a short conversation with them. We may not have the same schedule and class, so we can catch the chance to make friendly contacts. If I have not been a part of you(JCUs), I may not have a story with the open space in the front of the school building. Although JCUs has been moved to a new campus after I graduated, all stories of Upper Thomson campus are always with me. I believe if I have not been a part of JCUs, I will not love you so, my Alma Mater.
