Eligibility & Requirements

Entry Requirements

Prerequisites: An Australian Quality Framework (AQF) level 8 qualification with a 5.0 GPA (Credit) and grade of 65% or better in one advanced research methods subject, or equivalent.

Course Articulation

Students seeking admission to a research higher degree should consult the University’s HDR Degree by Research Requirements.

Students seeking admission to a Masters by Research must have obtained at least a GPA 5.0 (Credit) for the Graduate Certificate of Research Methods.

To be eligible to apply for direct admission to a PhD, students must have obtained at least a GPA 6.0 (Distinction) for the Graduate Certificate of Research Methods, and have successfully completed an appropriate research methods subject at AQF 8 or higher.

English Requirements

  • IELTS 6.0 (no component lower than 6.5)/TOEFL iBT 90 (with minimum writing score of 21) /Pearson (PTE Academic) 64; or
  • Satisfactory completion of James Cook University Singapore English Language Preparatory Program (ELPP) Level 4.
  • Students who have successfully completed 2 years of full-time study in English medium may satisfy the English Language Requirement.

James Cook University is EduTrust Certified. The EduTrust certification scheme is administered by the Committee for Private Education (CPE), a part of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
