JCU Success Workshop (BRAND YOU! Branding Yourself Through an Elevator Pitch and on Social Media)

When: 29 April 2022, 9am to 10am
Location:Online Webinar

Overview

You just bumped into Elon Musk in an elevator. After saying hello, he asks you who you are and what you do. Before you respond, you panicked and thought, what do I tell him? As you organize your thoughts, you hear a “ding,” which signals that he is about to get off the elevator. If you had prepared an elevator pitch, you would have introduced yourself before he got off.

This workshop will help you develop an “elevator pitch” for extemporaneous opportunities to brand yourself. An elevator pitch is a short, pre-prepared speech that is intended to spark the recipient’s interest in you. You can take advantage of brief encounters to create interest in yourself, a product, an idea, or a project. An elevator pitch should last no longer than 30 seconds, the average length of an elevator ride.

You can use your elevator pitch for your LinkedIn Summary or Twitter Bio. Before you attend the workshop, (1) prepare an elevator pitch for yourself, and (2) create a LinkedIn profile (if you do not already have one).
