When: 19 August 2020, 4:30pm to 5:30pm

Engineering materials provide the artifacts that bring convenience into our daily lives. Some discoveries remained in the laboratory for 100s of years before finding commercial applications. The talk follows some key developments that our lives now depend upon and discusses what we can learn from the past to inform our future research and resource management.

As we celebrate our University’s 50th anniversary in 2020, our Professorial Lecture Series showcases research excellence across a number of disciplines. Our Professors collectively represent a body of expertise that translates research of directly practical importance to our place in the tropics.
