About The Ocean Mapping Expedition

Some 500 years after the first ever circumnavigation, this unique 4 year journey (2015-2019) around the world in the wake of Magellan combines science, education and culture on board 33m long ketch and former WWII minesweeper Fleur de Passion, biggest sailboat under Swiss flag. Launched from Seville, Spain, in April 2015 by Geneva-based non-profit organisation Fondation Pacifique, it aims at mapping the human impact on the oceans and raising awareness on sustainable development issues.
