In today’s world, the societal consequences amounting from the neglect of ethics by modern capitalism is no longer in doubt. Understanding the multifaceted causes and dynamics of these consequences demands an interdisciplinary approach. The Ethics, Organisations and Society (EOS) Research Cluster at James Cook University, Singapore (JCUS) was formed in 2022 to carry out leading research that crosses the boundaries between business and society. Its members are drawn from JCU Singapore Business School and James Cook University, Australia. The EOS strives to foster and disseminate a wide range of research undertaken by faculty and doctoral students, which are aimed at improving the ethical role of businesses in society, in consequent furtherance of global socio-economic health and vitality. The EOS is a truly multidisciplinary scholarly enterprise, with research input from accounting, finance, accountability, business ethics, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, corporate environmental reporting, philosophy and theology. The direction of the EOS is steered by the members of the group. The EOS also receives advice from a board of leading external academics and practitioners. We welcome partnership suggestions, research ideas, and research funding inquiries, via the Cluster Lead (Professor Emmanuel Adegbite).
