Academic Regalia

1. Do I need to wear Graduation Gown to the ceremony?
Yes, the wearing of Graduation Gown at Graduation Ceremonies is compulsory.

Gown rental vendor will be determined and made known to all graduands. Graduands are to visit the vendor online portal to input gown fitting information and arrange for their gown collection date.

The University will not be responsible for special gown collection arrangements made with the vendor.
2. When must I submit my Registration of Gown Form?
Graduands must submit the Regalia Hire Confirmation Form via the online portal no later than 1 week prior to the graduation date..
3. Do I have to pay a rental fee for the academic regalia for the ceremony?
Yes, there is a rental charge and a refundable deposit payment to be made.

Bachelor/ Bachelor with Honors graduands

Gown rental is S$50 and S$150 (cash payment) the refundable deposit

Masters graduands

Gown rental is S$50 and S$150 (cash payment) the refundable deposit
4. Do I need to dry clean the Academic Regalia?
No, the Academic Regalia is dry cleaned before being issued to you.
5. Can I make any alteration to the Academic Regalia?
Alteration of your Academic Regalia is not allowed. We will ensure you receive an Academic Regalia that fits you, so no alteration will be required. Any person returning the gown in a damaged/altered condition will have their refundable deposit of S$100 forfeited.
6. If I am unable to come to collect my gown, can I send someone to collect on my behalf?
You may authorise someone to collect the Academic Regalia on your behalf. They will have to present a copy of their passport or NRIC, and a letter of authorisation from you, the graduand.
The letter of authorisation can be found at the gown vendor's online portal.
7. When must I return the Academic Regalia?
Gown return date is yet to be confirmed.
8. Is there a dress code for graduands?  
Please ensure that you are suitably attired for the ceremony. Wearing of the Academic Dress is compulsory for all graduands attending the Graduation Ceremony. Academic Dress is a black gown, your Academic Hood colour and Mortar Board.

Suggested Dress Code for Ceremonies

Male Graduand: Long-sleeved business shirt; dark trousers; black shoes
Female Graduand: Dress, or long-sleeved blouse and skirt/pants; black-heeled shoes.

Or any other formal attire apart from the above category. No sandals, slippers or sport shoes allowed. No shorts or denim material allowed.
