Ceremony

1. Where are the Graduation Ceremonies held?

The James Cook University in Singapore Graduation Ceremony  will take place on 6 April, 6 July and 19 October 2024. The Sands Expo and Convention Centre will be the location.

2. Can I attend either the Townsville or Cairns Ceremony?
Yes, but you must state it clearly in your Graduation Application Form during submission. Please note that once it is approved you will not be able to change the selected Graduation Ceremony.
3. Do I need to wear Graduation Gown to the ceremony?
Yes, the wearing of Graduation Gown at Graduation Ceremonies is compulsory.

More details on academic regalia are available in the FAQs on Academic Regalia section. Graduands are to visit the vendor online portal to input gown fitting information and arrange for their gown collection date.

The University will not be responsible for special gown collection arrangements made with the vendor.
4. Am I charged for the 2 tickets for my guest?
No. Each graduand is entitled to 2 complimentary guest tickets
5. Can I sit with my guests?
No. Graduands are seated and arranged in their designated areas. Guests will be seated separately to facilitate the graduation process.
6. What time do I need to register at the Graduation Ceremony?
There will be 1 ceremony held on 6 April 2024.
Registration opens at 9.30am and closes at 10.30am
7. Can I take my personal belongings (eg handbags etc) with me while being presented?
No, you are not allowed to bring bulky personal belongings up the stage. For safety and security reasons, you should not bring any hand held items (handbags mobile phones etc) into the auditorium. Please arrange for a family member or friend to hold them for you before you register.
8. How long is the Graduation Ceremony?
The ceremony will last until approximately 1pm.
9. Will there be a photo taken during my presentation to the Chancellor?
Yes, each graduate is photographed being presented to the Chancellor
10. Where do I collect my guest tickets?
All guest tickets will be digital, graduands are to register their guests on the guest ticket platform.
Guests will be able to check at the self-help kiosk on event day to enter the event venue via either 1 of the 3 ways mentioned in the following:
1. Scan QR code in the confirmation email
2. Enter registered email
3. Enter the registered mobile number

Each graduand is entitled to 2 complimentary guest tickets only.
11. Can I purchase additional guest tickets?
Additional guest tickets can be purchased via guest registration ticket platform. Link to registration guest ticket platform will be sent via email by [email protected] closer to event date. You may request up to a total of 3 additional tickets, which will be charged at S$120 per ticket. All requests are processed on a first-come-first-served basis and are subjected to capacity availability in the function room.
12. Do I require a ticket for myself?
Your ‘Graduand seating card’ will be issued to you in the Ballroom during registration on Saturday, 6 April 2024. That will be your official entry for the graduation ceremony.
13. Are cancellations allowed for additional tickets bought?
JCU will not be liable for any refunds for guest tickets given to guests who are not able to attend the event under any circumstances. Graduands, please make necessary arrangements to utilise the additional guest tickets.
