Research Spotlight Series #2 – Livestreaming as a VTuber: A new era of content creation
Virtual YouTubers are a new breed of social influencers that have drawn a deal of interest in recent years by utilizing platforms that eliminate geographical distance and avatars that eliminate physical appearance through the use of a digital avatar created by motion tracking sensors. From a commercial perspective, VTubers are a billion-dollar industry, with VTubers performing the functions of any social media influencer. As this trend continues to grow, it is important to understand what contributes to its growth, the key players within the industry and the mechanism behind how these Virtual YouTubers build relationships with their audience.
