Professional Services

JCUS Psychology Clinic offers confidential clinical psychology services to JCUS students, as well as the public. Services are offered to both children (ages 0 to 17) and adults (18 years old and above). Evidence-based interventions such as Process-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy are used to guide treatment. The clinic provides services face-to-face, as well as through telepsychology (online therapy), for a variety of presenting concerns including:

  • Low mood and depression
  • Anxiety (e.g., separation, social, worry, phobia, panic, selective mutism)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Body image issues
  • Trauma
  • Attentional and hyperactivity issues
  • Anger
  • Stress
  • Parenting and family issues
  • Oppositional behaviours
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Social skills
  • Sleep

The clinic also provides psychological assessments for children (e.g., special education school application) and adults except for the following cases – dyslexia, access arrangements or accommodations for exams, medical, insurance, or legal purposes.

The Clinical Psychology Team

Services are provided by intern clinical psychologists from the JCUS Master of Psychology (Clinical) programme. They are closely supervised by the Psychology Clinic Manager or other staff. All clinical supervisors are registered and experienced Clinical Psychologists. Services offered by the clinic are conducted in accordance with the professional and ethical codes of practice of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Referrals

Potential clients can contact the clinic via telephone or email. The clinic executive will conduct a brief screening to find out more about the client’s concerns, as well as to assess the suitability of the clinic to provide services to the client. There is no need to obtain a referral from a professional or an agency. Children ages 17 and below require parental consent to access services at the clinic. Their parent will have to contact the clinic first to provide information and consent before the screening is done. Medical practitioners, psychologists, social workers, and allied health professionals may also make referrals by emailing or calling the clinic directly after discussion with their clients.

As a matter of safe professional practice, new clients are required to attend their first two appointments in person at the clinic. Following this they may be offered the opportunity to continue receiving services through telepsychology methods.

Clients receiving psychological assessment services are required to attend all assessment sessions in person.

Fees

The hourly rate for therapy is $25. The standard rate for assessment is $300 (all inclusive). The clinic offers a discount or fee waiver for clients who meet the household income eligibility.
