India is a rapidly-changing country with a fast-growing economy, and is home to one of the largest youth populations in the world. Like many countries similar to it, inclusive, high-quality education is crucial for India’s future success.

The Singapore campus of James Cook University (JCU) sought to connect with prospective students in India through an Admission Day event, which took place across various cities in India (including Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata) from 23–27 May.

The event provided prospective students with the opportunity to interact with the Academic team at JCU, Singapore to gain a better understanding of the wide array of courses offered at the University. They also had the opportunity to connect with both current students and alumni of the University to learn more about the student experience on campus as well as the many different ways that the University supports students in achieving success.

The event brought dignitaries from Australian High Commission and Austrade to support the activity by endorsing James Cook University and its quality of education. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU), an organisation and association of major universities in India based in the capital of the country, also endorsed JCU’s membership to the AIU and recognised students who have attained qualifications equivalent to James Cook University degrees.

Mr Suman Subbian, Regional Manager (India) at JCU in Singapore, shared, “This event is a wonderful platform for the prospective students to engage with various stakeholders of James Cook University. It is also useful for the prospective students to explore and discover the university most suitable for them and their future careers. The event offers a holistic perspective to the aspiring students as they attain an overall understanding about expectations from the Academic team, peer group advice from current students, and be inspired by alumni success stories.”
