James Cook University in Singapore is expanding efforts in internships, graduate hire, Book Prize sponsorships, as well as strengthening education on digital solutions, through MOUs.

James Cook University (JCU) in Singapore and BitDATA Exchange signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 12 December 2020 to expand areas of collaboration in the fields of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Business, Commerce, Information Technology, and Data Science. BitDATA Exchange’s expertise in cybersecurity, cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets will help enhance classes and areas of interest in these areas.

This collaboration will explore opportunities such as internships and book prizes for students, graduate hiring, overseas industrial attachments, as well as career, training, and volunteer-related activities and more.

The MOU will also facilitate discussions on a Joint Lab between JCU in Singapore and BitDATA Exchange. Professor Abhishek Bhati, Campus Dean and Head of Teaching, Learning and Student Engagement at JCU in Singapore, says, “A joint lab supported by JCU in Singapore and BitDATA will provide a much-needed platform to study online security risks and new product development in digital tokenisation. The lab will provide students with hands-on experience with real-life projects. At the same time the research output will add to the body of knowledge for wider industry use as appropriate.”

JCU in Singapore has also signed similar MOUs to boost opportunities for students with a number of other established organisations in the industry, including:

  • ACHO (a group of agency units of Prudential Assurance Company Singapore)
  • Converging Knowledge
  • Flywire
  • GLOO PR

As the University continues to strengthen offerings in education on innovative technologies and digital solutions, it is important to strengthen relationships with relevant organisations in the industry and share the knowledge that is critical to building a brighter future.
