Biography

I am a Lecturer in Mathematics at JCU Singapore. Before joining JCU, I worked as University Teacher for the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.

I studied for my Bachelors' and Masters' degrees at La Sapienza, University of Rome, and I completed my DPhil in Mathematics at the University of Oxford under the supervision of prof. Renaud Lambiotte.

My research interests are focused on physics-inspired method for the analysis of complex systems. More specifically, I am interested in networks, mathematical objects that can model individual agents acting together in a pairwise fashion. I use statistical mechanics to study the behaviour of such systems, especially in the large limit.

Beyond network science and complex systems, I am interested in the ways Mathematics is taught and understood in Higher Education, and I am keen to develop new experimental approaches to use in the classroom. I typically teach using a combination of method, but I emphasise active learning and peer discussion in my classroom, to let my students develop their mathematical knowledge and intuition collegially.
