Biography

Dr Lijuan Shen is a Senior Lecturer in Data Science with the School of Science and Technology at James Cook University (Singapore Campus). Her research lies at the intersection of systems resilience and data science, with a focus on developing data-driven methodologies to understand, assess, and enhance the resilience of complex infrastructure systems. She is particularly interested in leveraging statistical modelling and machine learning to support resilience-informed decision-making in the face of disruption. Prior to joining JCU, Dr Shen held research appointments as a Senior Researcher at the Singapore-ETH Centre and as a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore.

Dr Shen has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals such as IEEE Transactions on ReliabilityIISE TransactionsJournal of Quality TechnologyReliability Engineering & System Safety, and International Journal of Production Economics. She has served as a Guest Editor for Quality and Reliability Engineering International and is an active reviewer for a range of peer-reviewed journals.

In 2021, Dr Shen was awarded a research grant funded by the National Research Foundation of Singapore. She actively contributes to the international research community through regular conference participation and has received several awards, including the Best Paper Award at SRSE 2022.
