Biography

Dr Yuto Yasuda is a scholar with a multicultural background. He was born and raised in Japan, where he received his bachelor’s degree from Hokkaido University. He then continued his academic journey in Canada, receiving his Master of Science at the University of Calgary and his PhD at the University of Alberta. Meanwhile, he coached competitive football in Japan and Canada, winning leagues several times as a head coach. After receiving a PhD, he came back to Japan to continue his research at the Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences. Currently, he has internationally collaborated with scholars in Japan, Canada, the US, Australia and the UK. These multicultural experiences shape his identity.

Drawing from his experiences of football coaching in Japan and Canada, his research interests lie in the intersection of cultural psychology, sports psychology, and achievement motivation. Accordingly, he has quantitatively explored the effect of socio-cultural factors on individuals in performance settings such as sports and academia.
