Biography

Dr. Vu is an aquaculture geneticist with over 20 years of experience in hatchery management, seed production, and the genetic improvement of both freshwater and marine species. His expertise spans quantitative genetics, genomics, and applied statistics, with a strong focus on analyzing complex traits using high-throughput sequencing and large-scale phenotypic datasets. With over a decade of work in aquaculture research and industry, particularly in Vietnam, he has gained invaluable experience in propagation, breeding, nursing, disease management, and selection methodologies across a diverse range of species, including fish, freshwater prawns, and shrimp. Dr. Vu earned his PhD from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia, where his research focused on understanding the genetic and genomic basis of disease resilience in striped catfish. He is currently applying advanced genomics tools to improve commercially important traits in Red Snapper and Asian Seabass in Singapore.
