James Cook University in Singapore signs MOU with ISACA

JCU in Singapore has signed an MOU with ISACA for collaborating on new and valuable opportunities for students.

James Cook University (JCU) in Singapore and the ISACA Singapore Chapter have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on activities spanning areas such as student internships, academic awards, student development, as well as talks and workshops.

This paves the way for JCU students to expand their opportunities for real-world experience, whether through ideas for Capstone Collaborations or assisting in seminars and conferences organised by ISACA. As a professional association focused on IT governance, ISACA can also share their considerable knowledge and insights on information technology, cybersecurity and innovation, to support our efforts in preparing graduates for an increasingly digital world.

Mr Peter Gwee, Director of Academic Outreach at the ISACA Singapore Chapter, said, “ISACA have a global membership and successful publications (The ISACA Journal) and events such as the ‘ISACA Conference’ and ‘GTACS Conference’. Over the years, millions of ISACA’s industry professionals promote the ‘positive’ aspects of technology and attracting attention of government leaders, stimulating new ideas and cited by academic authors' profiles.

Currently, in most countries, academic promotion of an individual professional, faculty recruitment, and distribution of financial sources for research are linked to industry adoption of useful fundamental and emerging technological developments. ISACA have strengthen positions of organizations supporting productivity with information and technology systems to ‘do good’.”

Professor Chris Rudd OBE – Deputy Vice Chancellor and Head of Campus, Singapore at JCU – said, “At JCU, we recognise the importance of empowering students through practical education and real-world experiences. As we continue our push towards enhancing our offerings focused on cutting-edge technology, I hope that this collaboration will enable JCU students to create a greater impact in the realm of technology.”

Mr Andrew Chew, Chief Commercial Officer at JCU in Singapore, said, “This MOU with ISACA is a great example of how the Singapore campus of James Cook University is collaborating with professional associations to further increase the wide number of opportunities that we provide for our students.”
