Sea Forest, an Australian company founded by Mr. Sam Elsom, was a finalist in The Earthshot Prize Awards 2023. This prestigious recognition highlights Sea Forest's groundbreaking approach to one of the planet's most pressing environmental issues: significantly reducing methane emissions from livestock farming.
The Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony, dedicated to tackling global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, took place in Singapore on November 7, 2023. Sea Forest was selected as one of the top 15 finalists out of 1,100 entries, thanks to their innovative solution aimed at nearly eliminating methane emissions from livestock farming. During the same week as the awards ceremony, Mr. Sam Elsom, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sea Forest, and Mr. Stephen Turner, Chair of Sea Forest, visited James Cook University (JCU) in Singapore. The visit was further distinguished by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Allaster Cox, the Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, who joined JCU staff and guests for discussions. The meeting provided a platform to explore Sea Forest's initiatives and align them with JCU Singapore’s sustainability goals, including contributing to Singapore’s “30 by 30” strategy, which aims to produce 30 percent of Singapore’s nutritional needs locally by 2030. |
